When did you take your time to observe clouds up in the sky?

Meteoros – „high in the sky“ – nature’s wondrous phenomenon and fading motive in the fields of contemporary art and architecture.

Cloud is a vaporous mass, concentrated and producing water. The changing cloud forms in the sky are a key to weather forecasting. But beside all scientific knowlege: clouds still give space for visions, for something inbetween – the earth surface and the endless sky, dark and heavy or light, nature and human made, hide-and-seek, never catchable, enchanting.

By working in plein air we try to explore clouds by the medium of drawing. Later on we transform our ideas and observations with the help of sculptural materials, which can provide a very dirctly, intensive and sensitiv way … we create a cloud landscape.

Beside we go on a journey into the cloudy sky by presenting papers on artistic, filmic, literary and philosophical topics.

Flying a hot air balloon requires extensive preflight planning which depends upon a knowledge of meteorology applied to local weather conditions, the ability to navigate using charts and maps and among other things. A pilot needs to know where he or she is going in order to plan how to get there. So we need a map! The best might be a water map, because life probably developed in an aqueous environment on Earth and cells, as we know them, can only occur in water. There is now sense to fly for longtime reasons to mortal danger dry desserts. Water is what we need to survive! Water can be traced the most easily. It occurs abundantly in our own Solar System and probably throughout the universe. Water remains a limiting factor. Astrobiologists who look for life elsewhere know that water will be a key indicator for life as we know it. Liquid water with a good mix of ions and carbon molecules forms the foundation of terrean life.

After theoretical /conceptual introductions and exercices:  like study of water maps, water cycles, water lines in different state and shape, our own human blood circulation, the moon high tides, low tides and how find birds of voyage orientation of waterlines, glaciers, under earth streams, oceans and their thermic

we start with practical / visual exercices:

from line to (surface) area to space – from drawing to woodcut to installation in space

We try to explore ways of developing woodcut, one of the oldest forms of printmaking and information technology, to become a contemporary medium for critical artistic practice. In a high-tech society the low-tech medium of woodcut can provide a distanced view on contemporary society. The woodcut – as a media form – has some specific limitations that account for its characteristics.

Visual artist for talks underline our researches:    Muriel Moreau, Sandra Kühne, Albrecht Dürer,     Geoff Booras, Hans Haake,   Franz Ackermann, Katsushika Hokusai, Thomas Kilpper, Bucki Fuller, Martin Behaim

We will design and explore a large size map, showing our imaginations of water and its being, be made of patchwork patterns and prints on delightful japanese paper, finding together to a collaboration group work / overall picture / a new globe / a ballon.

Lets fly!

We will read different writers, like Novalis, Carroll etc.
